What services do you provide?
At Coal Harbour Massage Therapy Clinic we specialize in massage therapy services.
What conditions do you treat?
Our registered massage therapists specialize in pain and stress relief. We treat all forms of soft tissue aches, pains, stiffness and injury, regardless of whether they are caused by stress, illness, accident, strain or sports.
Back, hip, neck (whiplash) and leg pain or discomfort are common areas we treat, as well as headache, TMJ and postural or ergonomic problems due to extended computer use or other repetitive tasks. Hours of sitting at your computer without regular breaks can result in headaches, low back pain, jaw pain, neck and shoulder pain or tightness, as well as tingling or numbness in your arms and hands.
Many jobs and professions require repetitive movements, prolonged standing, or awkward body positions, e.g., professional musicians, house painters, hairdressers and dentists, to name just a very few. Almost everyone can benefit from massage therapy to relieve strain, stress and postural imbalances. Taking care of a problem before you get to the point of needing surgery is a positive move toward health.
Have you treated Chronic Diseases?
Yes. Our therapists are registered, licensed and fully trained in a range of massage therapies designed to treat chronic diseases and their symptoms. We have worked with clients suffering the following Chronic Diseases: ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), all four stages of Cancer, Parkinsons, Fibromyalgia, Strokes, Head Traumas, Paralysis and various neurological conditions.
What is your availability?
We are committed to ensuring you get an appointment the same day or within 24 hours of your call. There are instances where this is not possible and we do our best to get you in to see one of our massage therapists at the earliest possible time. It is suggested and encouraged that you book an appointment a week or more in advance. The therapists will often suggest scheduling a few appointments to ensure a proper therapeutic response for you body. Since it may have taken years or even decades for these problems to develop, the process of healing may require a series of treatment sessions. It is common to treat a condition for up to six sessions before critically assessing the results of the treatments.
What should I expect during the treatment?
Your first visit will involve filling out a health history form so it is suggested to arrive a few minutes early. Your massage therapist will greet you and spent some time going over the particulars of your situation. This will include specific questions as to the onset of your pain. There may be some special tests to pinpoint the best course of action for your treatment. The amount of time varies for this depending on the complexity of your problem but generally allow for about five to ten minutes.
Do I need to get undressed for my treatment?
It is best if the area to be treated is unencumbered with clothing as direct skin contact is best. At times, we will need to apply oil or lotion. When you are positioned on our specially designed massage tables you are completed covered by linen sheets and only the area being worked on will be undraped. As a Regulated Health Professional your massage therapist adheres to the highest ethical standards and will ensure your complete comfort and privacy during the treatment process. If you would like, you can wear a sport short and top. If you desire, it is possible to do a session with clothes on. Whatever will make you most comfortable is the policy at Coal Harbour Massage Therapy Clinic.
Once your massage therapy session is completed your massage therapist will leave the treatment room to allow you a couple of minutes to get off the table and get dressed in complete privacy.
Do you have cancellation policy?
Our policy at Coal Harbour Massage Therapy Clinic is that we ask for at least 24 hours prior notice of a cancellation, otherwise you will be responsible for the full treatment fee. (See fee schedule.)
Does my extended health care cover your treatments?
The majority of extended health care plans cover registered massage therapy treatments. So the question then becomes how much coverage do I have? The answer to this is in your insurance policy. The coverage amounts are located usually under the headings, “Paramedical” or “Supplementary benefits.” Policies typically have a percentage of coverage and/or a specified dollar amount (e.g., 80% coverage up to a total of $500 per calendar year).
Do I need a doctors referral?
You do not need to have a referral to see a registered massage therapist. If you are being covered by your extended health care plan be sure to check your policy to see if a referral is needed in order to be reimbursed for the treatments.
Do you accept MSP / ICBC / WCB referrals / Cases?
Yes, but because we are an opted out clinic, we bill our services at our clinic rate. It is then your responsibility to receive full/part payment back from your insurance company.
Our regular massage treatment session rates are:
15 minutes $44
30 minutes $64
45 minutes $91
60 minutes $107
90 minutes $167
(Prices do NOT include GST)

FIRST TIME CLIENTS – We will process your payment at the clinic just prior to your massage therapy session. The actions of a few people have necessitated this change in the way we usually do business. We apologize for this inconvenience.
