Michael Desrochers B.A.Sc., R.M.T., R.O.H.P.

Michael’s path to a career in massage therapy started in 2000 after overcoming a health issue that almost took his life. Through his recovery process he decided to dedicate the rest of his life to helping others overcome  pain and stress at all levels.

As founder of the Coal Harbour Massage Therapy Clinic and painPRO Therapeutics, his unique multi-disciplinary approach has helped hundreds of clients achieve a pain free healthy active life. Having completed over 8000 massages in the past 11 years Michael understands the nuances of getting the results clients desire.

In addition to being a Registered Massage Therapist Michael is a Registered Orthomolecular Nutritionist specializing in soft tissue pain. For many years he educated and certified fitness professionals nationally as a PRO Personal Trainer with Canada’s largest fitness regulating body CanFitPro. In addition to this Michael has consulted for the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in order to establish diploma programs for advanced Clinical Exercise Specialist and Nutritional Consulting.

In early 2011 Michael also completed an e-book “Freedom from Back Pain in 30 Days or Less”.

Michael specializes in:  Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and Electro Therapy Point Stimulation (ETPS). He is also trained in: Therapeutic Exercise, Personal Fitness Training, Orthomolecular Nutrition, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and Muscle Energy Technique (MET).

Alan Bordeville B.H.Sc., R.M.T.

Alan’s focus is on pain and stress management, correcting postural dysfunction, and soft tissue therapy. He has a keen interest in the psychological benefits of massage therapy as well, including reducing anxiety and depression, and increasing the client’s overall sense of wellbeing.
Alan uses a variety of tools and techniques to achieve these goals, such as Thermophore Heating Pads, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Active and Passive Release, Stretching and Strengthening. He will personalize your treatment plan to meet your unique needs using effective, non-invasive treatment methods.
Alan also holds a Counselling Skills Certificate, and sits on the BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) Board of Directors.

Jennifer Williamson R.M.T.

Jennifer is a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. Her desire to make a significant difference in others lives was the motivating factor for her to pursue Massage Therapy as a career. Having spent many years in the spa industry Jennifer realized that although stress relief was a big factor in the helping people pain relief required advanced skills and techniques. In order to maximize the benefits of her treatments Jennifer uses various advanced therapeutic massage techniques including but not limited to, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, PNF, and Positional Release.

Sheena O’Conner BSc, R.M.T.

Being an active child and teenager involved in competitive dance and basketball Sheena has spent countless hours working with physiotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and of course massage therapists.  During these times of rehabilitation she discovered at a very early age her love for the health professional field and acquired a keen interest in human anatomy and exercise physiology.  Her love of human biology combined with her knowledge of sports injuries and her inspiring, cheerful personality lead her to massage therapy.

Sheena completed a Bachelor of Science in Guelph, ON where she was heavily involved with the athletic department working as a student athletic therapist.  She then completed her massage therapy training in Ottawa, ON and has spent the last few years working in Nelson, B.C.  Over this time she has integrated her knowledge of holistic healing therapies with her deep tissue treatment techniques.  Sheena uses a variety of massage techniques such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), Lymphatic Drainage and postural correction techniques.  She is known for her warm, genuine and compassionate presence but also for her strong, capable, intuitive hands.

Over the past 10 years Sheena has also been actively involved in the fitness industry working as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.  She incorporates this knowledge of exercise rehabilitation into all of her massage treatments and is continually attending fitness courses to remain up to date on all modalities.  Through her work you can see that Sheena is truly passionate about healing and motivating others to understand and love their bodies!

Alexandra MacLean, R.M.T

Alexandra is a dedicated registered massage therapist who is committed to setting and attaining treatment goals with her clients to ensure a healthier future. Her eight year career as a professional dancer exposed her to many different cultures and infused her passion for the human body and the various ways it moves. Her background in jazz, hip hop, tap and lyrical contemperary assisted her in transitioning smoothly into the massage field as she’s all too familiar with injuries and how effective massage can be in treating them. She graduated with honours from C.C.M.H private college in Toronto, Canada and is excited to be on Coal Harbours team of outstanding massage therapists. Alexandra looks forward to sharing her zest for life with clients through effective, compassionate treatments and unconditional energy.

Jenna Christian is a graduate of the 3000 hour Registered Massage Therapy Program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster and is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. She is trained in a variety of massage techniques including Swedish massage, myofacial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, pre and post natal massage and treatment of every day aches and pains caused by muscle tension and headaches.

Jenna’s philosophy of practice is to provide massage with a kind heart and skilled hands. She has observed and personally experienced the healing benefits message therapy can bring to reduce pain and decrease stress. She is enthusiastically committed to working with her clients to achieve their health goals. Making a difference to her client’s quality of life is both powerful and compelling to her.

Geoff Heald R.M.T.Geoff Heald RMT

Geoff is a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster and was drawn to Massage Therapy through a need to find a career path that involved helping others. Geoff creates a massage treatment specific to your needs with a focus on fast pain reduction and injury recovery. In order to facilitate this  he incorporates a wide variety of massage techniques that include Swedish massage, myofacial release, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue massage. Different methods of stretching are also incorporated when needed to help increase the effectiveness of treatment.

Geoff  has a great deal of experience in both everyday aches and pains caused by stress and work, sport injuries, and advanced rehabilitative massage required in severe accident related trauma. His past work has included  treating patients at both GF Strong and George Pearson Rehabilitation hospitals.

Geoff finds treating a wide variety of conditions interesting and enjoys the challenge of creating the most beneficial treatment for each patient as an individual.

 Arnold Warkentin R.M.T.Arnold Warkentin RMT

Arnold is a graduate of the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster. Arnold also worked at the Robert Lee YMCA as a fitness coach and personal trainer for over 2 years, providing advanced fitness routines with the strong theoretical knowledge acquired from school.

With experience working with a wide range of clients, from varsity athletes at UBC to patients at the George Pearson Centre, Arnold is able to help a wide range of clients reach their goals.

Arnold is highly motivated therapist who strives to excel in every situation and solve any problem he faces. Using every technique available to him, Arnold focuses on restoring full range or motion, encouraging proper posture, and increasing tissue mobility to ensure optimal, pain-free functionality.

Elulu Zemariam R.M.T.Elulu Zemariam RMT

Elulu’s interest in non-invasive methods of healing began in 2007, when she discovered the practice of yoga. Soon after, she realized her love and passion for the human anatomy and physiology, and was intrigued of what it was truly capable of. Since becoming a Bikram’s Yoga instructor in 2009, Elulu has continued to expand her knowledge and skills as a graduate from Utopia Academy of Massage Therapy.

Understanding that every body is different, Elulu makes a point to create specific tailored treatments to fit her wide variety of clientele. She focuses on client education, proper biomechanics and functionality. Elulu believes finding and treating the root of each persons pain and stress, instead of the symptoms alone, is key to a longer lasting recovery.

Andrea Orosz R.M.T.Andrea Orosz RMT

Andrea’s decision of choosing massage therapy as a profession became clear when her father suffered from several strokes a few years back. Receiving massage on a regular basis played a critical role in reducing her father’s pain and recovering from paralysis. Witnessing the remedial power of massage therapy her passion was born. Soon after she enrolled for the 3000 hr Registered Massage Therapy program at WCCMT and graduated with honours at the top of class.

Her treatment approach draws upon her extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology stemming from her theoretical education, her 12 years of gymnastic experience and her personal experiences with injury and rehabilitation. Her work experience includes but is not limited to working in Canuck’s Children Hospital, GF strong, UBC Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, WCCMT Multiple Sclerosis Clinic and Women’s Hospital.

Andrea’s main objective is to approach the body in a holistic manner, to address not only the area of complaint but to target the primary causes. Her treatments include a wide variety of techniques ranging from Fascial Release, Active Myofascial Release, Muscular Energy Technique, Joint mobilization, Trigger Point Therapy, Stretching, Deep Tissue Treatment and Athletic Massage.

Her future goal is to enroll into B.H.Sc. program, furthering her education for Massage Therapy by participating in the Somatic body dissection course and pursuing a diploma in Epidemiology. She believes this course will give her a better understanding of the cause and effect of environment on human body and to help eliminate its damaging factors from everyday life.
